Gavin's business motto; "I am in the people business doing something of benefit to people - as we all are". Upon completing a bachelor of Science degree in the mid eighties, Gavin started his own IT company which saw him engage with companies such as Comalco, Queensland Rail, Queensland Magnesia, Pershouse Produce and Queensland Alumina. Gavin became fascinated and somewhat obsessed with "Issue Resolution". It became obvious that at an abstracted level all issues were the same and that an opportunity existed to systematise the resolution of issues. Gavin invented the Issue Resolution Engine as a practical solution. Various pilot projects implemented the IRE concept with great results.
In 2002 Gavin determined that the IRE was the basis for a very effective enterprise ready issue management system particularly in the areas of risk, health safety, quality and corporate governance. Investing all his energies and resources Gavin piloted "Beyond Risk" (an IRE manifestation in the UDS) now under commercialisation by uniDap solutions at major client sites.
